Tribal Designs Have Significance

Tattoos have special meaning and significance to certain cultures. The most notable among these are the Maori's and to a lesser extent the other South Sea Islanders. You've all heard about tikis and such, they're emblems associated with good luck. In essence, they're tribal tattoos because they are found within the people's system of beliefs.

Because of this, such designs have true belief behind them. They also may hold significance as signs of strength, courage, wisdom or even love within such cultures. Choosing the right design to these people is very important because of this and a lot of thought goes into it. Such decisions are not taken lightly.

In the past, such designs were worn by the greatest and fiercest of warriors and today are still seen in that light by members of these communities. To bear them upon your person is considered to be a great responsibility and one not to be entered into lightly.
